FrSky Archer Plus SR8
The Archer line of receivers has been enhanced further with the addition of the new Archer Plus Series.
The Archer Plus Series receivers include some new features. Firstly an enhanced anti-RF-Interference capability can offer a more solid RF performance, and this is in addition to the receivers with anti-interfere performance in the spark ignition process. These Plus series receivers are also with both ACCESS and ACCST D16 modes, where the RF protocol is smart matched during the binding process on the radio. With the Black-Box function, some basic flight data (like Power & Signal related) can be well preserved.
The Archer Plus SR8 are gyro-stabilized receivers with a built-in 3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer and feature multiple flight modes (Auto-level, Stabilization, Knife-Edge, etc.) and configuration methods. supports full-range signal strength with dual detachable antennas and guarantees optimal antenna reception and range. The Archer Plus SR8 can be used as a Primary receiver in a redundant solution by wiring the SBUS In port and connecting to any other FrSky receiver equipped with an SBUS Out port. With the FBUS protocol, Archer Plus SR8 can open up the possibility of seamlessly pairing with multiple telemetry devices (Neuron ESC, Advance Sensors, etc.) as well as simplifying the build setup.

Why We Recommend This
The Archer Plus SR8 is our pick for pilots who want modern ACCESS/ACCST D16 multi-protocol compatibility plus built-in gyro stabilization in one receiver — it replaces both a legacy receiver and a separate gyro unit, simplifying any fixed-wing build. FPV Builds RC provides U.S.-based product support, receiver-selection assistance, and setup guidance for FrSky products purchased through our store.
Frequently Asked Questions:Which FrSky transmitters are compatible with the Archer Plus SR8?
The Archer Plus SR8 is compatible with FrSky transmitters and RF modules supporting ACCESS (including X18, X18S, X18SE, X18RS, X20, X20S, X20RS, X20 Pro, X20 Pro AW, X20 R, X14, X14S, X14RS, X-Lite S) or ACCST D16 (including Taranis X9D, X9D Plus, QX7, QX7S, and others), subject to compatible transmitter and receiver firmware and applicable regional FCC/LBT versions. The protocol is smart-matched automatically during binding — no manual switching needed. Browse our full transmitter lineup at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-transmitters
What is the gyro stabilization and what aircraft benefit from it?
The Archer Plus SR8 has a built-in 3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer that enable flight modes including Auto-Level, Stabilization, and Knife-Edge — without needing a separate stabilizer unit. Fixed-wing aircraft (warbirds, gliders, trainers, scale planes) benefit the most, as the built-in gyro smooths turbulence, reduces pilot workload, and enables self-leveling recovery.
What is the difference between the Archer Plus SR8 and R8?
Both are ACCESS/ACCST D16 Archer Plus receivers. The SR8 (Stabilized Receiver) adds the built-in 3-axis gyro/accelerometer stabilizer for self-leveling flight modes. The R8 is the non-stabilized version — the right choice for FPV multirotors or aircraft with a dedicated flight controller where an onboard gyro would conflict.
What is the difference between ACCESS and ACCST D16 modes?
ACCESS is FrSky's newer digital protocol offering over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, improved telemetry, and enhanced security. ACCST D16 is the older, widely-used protocol compatible with classic Taranis-series transmitters. The Archer Plus SR8 supports both and auto-matches the protocol during binding — older Taranis and newer Access radios both bind without any manual setup.
How do I use FBUS for telemetry on the Archer Plus SR8?
Assign a channel port to FBUS mode in your transmitter's settings. Connect ADV sensors (FAS current sensor, GPS, VARI) or a Neuron ESC to the FBUS port. FBUS carries bidirectional data on a single wire — sensor readings appear live on your transmitter screen with no S.Port splitter needed. Does the Archer Plus SR8 support OTA firmware updates?
Yes — in ACCESS mode. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air from your transmitter via ETHOS or OpenTX/EdgeTX. In ACCST D16 mode, OTA updates are not available.
How do I configure the Archer Plus SR8's stabilization in ETHOS?
Current FrSky stabilized receivers are configured through the applicable Stabilizer Config/device configuration functions in ETHOS. Receiver orientation, aircraft type, stabilization mode, channel assignments, and related settings should be configured for the specific receiver and aircraft installation. Follow the current FrSky/ETHOS instructions for the Archer Plus SR8.
