FrSky FAS40 ADV Current Sensor

The FrSky FAS40 ADV is a compact telemetry current sensor for small-to-mid-size electric RC aircraft. Measuring up to 40A of current and voltage up to 6S LiPo, it reports current and battery voltage through a properly configured FrSky FBUS or S.Port telemetry connection.

FrSky ADVANCE (ADV) series has comprehensive sensor types and enhanced the performance and capability of the original sensor line. All ADV sensors fully support FBUS protocol and are also S.Port compatible. A compatible receiver must provide a correctly configured FBUS or S.Port telemetry connection.

The FAS40 ADV measures current (maximum 40A) and voltage (up to 6S) when installed in series between your battery and ESC. Current and voltage telemetry can be displayed on a supported transmitter; calculated power and alerts depend on transmitter software and configuration.

Manufacturer specifications: 0–40A measurement range; 40A maximum safe current; up to 6S battery voltage; 65.24 × 15.7 × 16.6 mm; 16mA current consumption at 5V; XT60 anti-spark connectors.

Why We Recommend This

The FAS40 ADV is the right sensor for smaller sport aircraft and mid-size electrics — Choose it only when the system's maximum current stays within the manufacturer's 40A safe limit and battery voltage does not exceed 6S. The FAS40 uses XT60 anti-spark connectors. FPV Builds RC provides U.S.-based product support, sensor-selection assistance, and setup guidance for FrSky products purchased through our store.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the FrSky FAS40 ADV best suited for?
The FAS40 ADV is ideal for sport electrics, trainers, small EDF jets, and 3D airplanes drawing up to 40A with battery packs up to 6S LiPo. Its compact form factor fits neatly in smaller fuselages where a larger current sensor would add unnecessary weight. If your aircraft peaks above 40A or runs higher voltage, consider the FAS100 or FAS150 ADV instead.

FAS40 vs FAS100 vs FAS150 — how do I choose?
Match the sensor to your aircraft's peak current draw. FAS40: up to 40A / 6S for small electrics. FAS100: up to 100A / 14S for larger electric aircraft. FAS150: up to 150A current and up to 60V voltage measurement using its separate voltage-sense connection. Browse all three at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-sensors.

Which FrSky receivers is the FAS40 ADV compatible with?
The FAS40 ADV supports FBUS and S.Port telemetry. Check your exact receiver model, port configuration, and firmware for the appropriate connection; compatibility cannot be assumed from the receiver family name alone. Browse compatible receivers at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-receivers.

How do I wire the FAS40 ADV into my aircraft?
Connect the FAS40 ADV's XT60 BAT and ESC connectors inline between the battery and ESC, maintaining the correct polarity. Connect its telemetry lead to a receiver port configured for FBUS or S.Port. Follow the manufacturer's FAS40 ADV wiring diagram.

How does telemetry from the FAS40 appear on my transmitter?
The sensor measures current (A) and battery voltage (V). Compatible transmitter software can display these telemetry values and may calculate power (W) or support alarms; available fields depend on the receiver, protocol, and transmitter setup.

Does the FAS40 ADV require firmware updates?
The FAS40 ADV supports FBUS and S.Port; select the appropriate receiver port mode and discover the sensor in your transmitter's telemetry settings. Confirm firmware compatibility for your exact receiver and transmitter.

Does FPV Builds RC offer setup support for the FAS40 ADV?
Yes. FPV Builds RC is a U.S.-based FrSky dealer and can help with wiring guidance, sensor selection, and ETHOS configuration. Browse the full FrSky sensor range at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-sensors.
