FrSky Tandem TD SR12 Stabilized Dual-Band

The Tandem (TD) dual-band receivers are unlike any other FrSky 2.4GHz or 900MHz receivers, they work simultaneously at both 900MHz and 2.4GHz frequencies. That means TD receivers provide not only low latency signal and long-range control but also benefit from the enhanced level of high reliability and anti-interference performance.

The TD SR12 receiver is equipped with a triple antenna (2x2.4GHz & 1x900MHz) design that provides multi-directional wide coverage for the remote signal and is designed for RC users who want to benefit from resilience and long-range in their radio communications.

TD SR12 also provides a socket that can be used to connect the NFC Switch panel to enable the built-in Power Switch function. Dual-power provides a safe and efficient way to power the system with your power sources connected via a pair of standard XT30 connections. The dual-power consumption system is designed to operate in balance mode, where it consumes the power line from either power source depending on which has the higher voltage. With a built-in black box module, the data (Power & Signal related) under unusual status during the flight can be recorded by TD receivers.

The configurable 12-channel ports are a big feature of TD SR12, each channel port can be assigned as PWM, SBUS, FBUS, or S.Port. With the FBUS protocol, the Tandem series receivers can open up the possibility of seamlessly pairing with multiple telemetry devices (Neuron ESC, Advance Sensors, etc.) as well as simplifying the builds setup.

ADV Stabilizer

The TD SR12 offers an ADV Stabilizer function which is an upgrade over the original classical gyroscope stabilization modes. The ADV Stabilizer offers an advanced mode that provides more programmable stabilized channels and flexibility.

The classical stabilization mode has been enhanced with 5 additional stabilization channels, providing pin mapping to each channel in the multiple flight modes like Stabilization, Auto-Level, Hover, and Knife-Edge with an airplane model.

In the advanced stabilization mode, all the output pins are configurable for stabilization and additional advanced features such as Stab file sharing, programmable parameters, developer access, etc.

The advanced stabilizer feature incorporates high-precision telemetry sensors to monitor altitude, vertical speed, etc. This ADV feature is an additional benefit compared to using a regular S series stabilization receiver.

Why We Recommend the TD SR12

The TD SR12 is our pick for fixed-wing pilots who want Tandem dual-band reliability plus ADV gyro stabilization in a 12-channel receiver — it replaces a standard receiver and a separate gyro unit in one. FPV Builds RC provides U.S.-based product support, receiver-selection assistance, and setup guidance for FrSky products purchased through our store.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Which FrSky transmitters are compatible with the TD SR12?

The TD SR12 is compatible with all FrSky Tandem series transmitters: X18, X18S, X18SE, X18RS, X20, X20S, X20RS, X20 Pro, X20 Pro AW, and X20 R. Any Tandem-protocol radio or TD-capable RF module will bind to this receiver. Browse compatible radios at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-transmitters

What is the Tandem dual-band system?

Tandem receivers run 900MHz and 2.4GHz simultaneously — both bands are live at the same time, not as a failover. 2.4GHz handles fast, low-latency control; 900MHz extends range and punches through RF interference. You benefit from both on every flight.

What is the ADV Stabilizer and what aircraft use it?

The TD SR12 ADV Stabilizer combines a 3-axis gyroscope and accelerometer to provide self-leveling flight modes: Stabilization, Auto-Level, Hover, and Knife-Edge. It's designed for fixed-wing aircraft — warbirds, gliders, trainers — where gyro stabilization smooths out turbulence and simplifies recovery. The advanced mode adds programmable parameters and stab file sharing for complex setups.

What is the difference between the TD SR12 and TDR12?

Both are 12-channel Tandem dual-band receivers. The TD SR12 adds the built-in ADV gyro stabilizer. The TDR12 is the non-stabilized version — ideal for aircraft with a dedicated flight controller or direct-control FPV setups where you don't need onboard stabilization.

How do I configure FBUS for telemetry on the TD SR12?

In ETHOS on your Tandem transmitter, assign any of the 12 configurable ports to FBUS. Daisy-chain your ADV sensors (FAS, GPS, VARI) or Neuron ESC to that port. FBUS is bidirectional on a single wire — sensor telemetry appears live on your transmitter screen. See our full sensor range at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-sensors

Does the TD SR12 support OTA firmware updates?

Yes. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air from your Tandem transmitter running ETHOS — no USB or computer required.

How do I configure the TD SR12's stabilization in ETHOS?

Current FrSky stabilized receivers are configured through the applicable Stabilizer Config/device configuration functions in ETHOS. Receiver orientation, aircraft type, stabilization mode, channel assignments, and related settings should be configured for the specific receiver and aircraft installation. Follow the current FrSky/ETHOS instructions for the TD SR12.

Does FPV Builds RC offer setup support for the TD SR12?

Yes — we're a U.S.-based FrSky dealer happy to help with binding, stabilization setup, and FBUS wiring. Browse our full FrSky receiver lineup at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-receivers
