FrSky Tandem TDR18 2.4GHz + 900MHz Dual-Band 18-Channel Receiver

When your large-scale build demands 18 configurable servo channels and simultaneous dual-band RF with enough current headroom to power a full rack of digital servos, the TDR18 is the receiver FrSky built for that job. The TDR18 runs FrSky's Tandem (TD) protocol, combining 2.4 GHz + 900 MHz into a single control stream on every flight — not switching between bands, but running both simultaneously for maximum redundancy and interference resistance. Triple-antenna design (two 2.4 GHz IPEX1 + one 900 MHz) provides multi-directional RF coverage across the airframe.

18 Configurable Channel Ports

Every port is individually assignable as PWM, SBUS Out, FBUS, or S.Port. – CP1: PWM / SBUS Out / FBUS / S.Port / SBUS In (Redundancy) – CP2–CP18: PWM / SBUS Out / FBUS / S.Port

Dual XT30 Power Input

Two XT30 connectors accept power from two independent battery buses. The TDR18 draws from whichever has the higher voltage, with 30A continuous and 60A instantaneous current output to power servos directly.

Built-In Black Box and SD Card Support Power and signal telemetry under abnormal conditions logs automatically. An optional external SD card module adds long-form control and flight attitude logging for post-flight analysis.

Built-In Power Switch (NFC Panel Support) A dedicated socket accepts FrSky's NFC Switch Panel or Audio Jack Switch Panel for clean electronic power-on/off.

4ms Race Mode with Telemetry, OTA Firmware Update Full telemetry stays active even at 4ms latency. Firmware updates via OTA through a compatible ETHOS transmitter.

Compatible Transmitters X18, X18S, X18SE, X18RS, X20, X20R, X20RS, X20 Pro AW, X20S, X20S Pro, and transmitters with TD-ISRM or TD-ISRM Pro internal RF module.

Why We Recommend the FrSky TDR18 For large-scale fixed-wings — turbine jets, giant-scale warbirds, long-range FPV cruisers — the TDR18 solves the high channel count problem without external expanders. Dual-bus XT30 power, built-in black box, OTA updates, and full ETHOS integration make it the cleanest 18-channel install in the Tandem ecosystem. We stock it for pilots who've outgrown 10 and 12-channel receivers and need a single box for the whole airframe. At FPV Builds RC, our U.S.-based team is here to help with TDR18 binding, ETHOS channel mapping, and power configuration. Reach out anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions — FrSky TDR18 What transmitters are compatible with the FrSky TDR18?

The TDR18 requires a Tandem (TD) transmitter or RF module: X18, X18S, X18SE, X18RS, X20, X20R, X20RS, X20 Pro AW, X20S, X20S Pro, or a transmitter with TD-ISRM / TD-ISRM Pro. Not compatible with ACCST, ACCESS, or TW systems. Full transmitter lineup:

How does the Tandem dual-band protocol work?

The TD protocol runs 2.4 GHz + 900 MHz simultaneously on every flight — not a fallback or diversity switch, but two active links at once. Combined into a single control stream, you get 2.4 GHz's low latency alongside 900 MHz's range and penetration simultaneously. This differs from FrSky's TW (Twin) protocol, which uses two simultaneous 2.4 GHz links.

How do I bind the TDR18 to my transmitter?

In ETHOS, go to Model Setup, select RF System, choose TD mode, and use Register/Bind. Power the receiver with the bind button held until the LED flashes rapidly, then confirm in ETHOS. FrSky's official binding video for the TD R18 with X20/X18 is on the FrSky RC YouTube channel.

How do I configure the 18 channel ports in ETHOS?

Each port is assignable as PWM, SBUS Out, FBUS, or S.Port in ETHOS Receiver Settings. CP1 additionally supports SBUS In for a redundancy slave. A common large-airframe setup uses multiple PWM outputs for servos and one FBUS port for daisy-chaining FrSky ADV telemetry sensors.

Can the TDR18 be used in a redundancy setup?

Yes. CP1's SBUS In function allows a second receiver as a slave. FrSky's Tandem Redundancy Bus (TRB) accessory supports cleaner multi-receiver redundancy. Popular on high-value large-scale airframes where single-point RF failure is unacceptable.

Does the TDR18 support FrSky ADV telemetry sensors?

Yes. Via FBUS on any configurable port, the TDR18 daisy-chains FrSky ADV sensors (GPS ADV, VARI ADV, FAS40/100/150, ASS ADV) and the Neuron 40A ESC, with all telemetry routed to ETHOS in real time. Browse sensors: https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-sensors

How does the TDR18 compare to the TDR12 and TD SR18? The TDR12 has 12 channels (no stabilization). The TD SR18 is the ADV stabilized version of this 18-channel platform, with ETHOS ADV flight controller integration for stabilized fixed-wing. Choose TDR18 when you need 18 configurable channels without onboard stabilization. See all FrSky receivers: https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-receivers
