FrSky Tandem TD MX 2.4GHz + 900MHz Dual-Band Receiver

TD MX offers 4 PWM channels on a small and lightweight board, and it also has multiple ports onboard like SBUS Out, SBUS In, S.Port, Inverted S.Port, and FBUS. With the FBUS protocol, the Tandem series receivers can open up the possibility of seamlessly pairing with multiple telemetry devices (Neuron ESC, Advance Sensors, etc.) as well as simplifying the builds setup. In addition, the data (Power & Signal related) under unusual status during the flight can be recorded by Tandem receivers through the built-in black-box function.

The Tandem dual-band receivers are unlike any other FrSky 2.4GHz or 900MHz receivers, they work simultaneously at both 900MHz and 2.4GHz frequencies. That means Tandem receivers provide not only the low latency signal and long range control, also benefits from enhanced level of high reliability and anti-interference performance.

The Tandem series receivers adopt the triple antenna design that provides multi-directional wide coverage for the remote signal. The 900MHz antenna is a newly designed small form factor, but has the equivalent high-performance as with previous 900MHz antennas.

Why We Recommend This

The TD MX is our compact Tandem dual-band pick for builds where space is tight — slimmer footprint than the SR-series receivers, still carrying full simultaneous 900MHz/2.4GHz coverage and FBUS telemetry support. FPV Builds RC provides U.S.-based product support, receiver-selection assistance, and setup guidance for FrSky products purchased through our store.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Which FrSky transmitters are compatible with the TD MX?

The TD MX works with all FrSky Tandem series transmitters: X18, X18S, X18SE, X18RS, X20, X20S, X20RS, X20 Pro, X20 Pro AW, and X20 R. Any radio running the Tandem (TD) dual-band protocol or a TD-capable RF module will bind to this receiver. See our full transmitter lineup at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-transmitters

What makes the TD MX different from larger TD receivers?

The TD MX is the ultra-compact option in the Tandem lineup — at just 25x21x4mm and 7.1g, it's built for small, weight-sensitive aircraft where the full Tandem dual-band system needs to fit in a tight fuselage. You get 4 PWM channels, SBUS Out, SBUS In, S.Port, Inverted S.Port, and FBUS — all the connectivity of a full-size receiver in a near-stamp-sized package.

What is the Tandem dual-band system?

Tandem receivers operate on 900MHz and 2.4GHz simultaneously — both bands are live at the same time, not failover. 2.4GHz delivers fast, low-latency control; 900MHz extends range and cuts through interference. The result is class-leading reliability across a wide range of environments.

Does 900MHz activate automatically?

Yes. Your Tandem transmitter activates the 900MHz link automatically when bound to a TD receiver — no extra setup in ETHOS needed. Both frequencies are live from the first bind.

How do I use FBUS on the TD MX?

The TD MX includes a dedicated FBUS port. Assign it to FBUS mode in your transmitter's ETHOS receiver settings, then connect your ADV telemetry sensors (FAS, GPS, VARI) or Neuron ESC. FBUS carries bidirectional data on a single wire — sensor readings stream live to your radio screen with no S.Port splitter needed.

Does the TD MX support OTA firmware updates?

Yes. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air from your Tandem transmitter via ETHOS — no USB cable or computer required.

Does FPV Builds RC offer setup support for the TD MX?

Yes — we're a U.S.-based FrSky dealer happy to help with binding and FBUS setup. Browse our full FrSky receiver range at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-receivers
