FrSky Tandem TDR12
The Tandem (TD) dual-band receivers are unlike any other FrSky 2.4GHz or 900MHz receivers, they work simultaneously at both 900MHz and 2.4GHz frequencies. That means TD receivers provide not only low latency signal and long-range control but also benefit from the enhanced level of high reliability and anti-interference performance.
The TD R12 receiver is equipped with a triple antenna (2x2.4GHz & 1x900MHz) design that provides multi-directional wide coverage for the remote signal and is designed for RC users who want to benefit from resilience and long-range in their radio communications.
TD R12 also provides a socket that can be used to connect the NFC Switch panel to enable the built-in Power Switch function. Dual-power provides a safe and efficient way to power the system with your power sources connected via a pair of standard XT30 connections. The dual-power consumption system is designed to operate in balance mode, where it consumes the power line from either power source depending on which has the higher voltage. With a built-in black box module, the data (Power & Signal related) under unusual status during the flight can be recorded by TD receivers.
The configurable 12-channel ports are a big feature of TD R12, each channel port can be assigned as PWM, SBUS, FBUS, or S.Port. With the FBUS protocol, the Tandem series receivers can open up the possibility of seamlessly pairing with multiple telemetry devices (Neuron ESC, Advance Sensors, etc.) as well as simplifying the builds setup.
Why We Recommend This
The TDR12 is the non-stabilized Tandem dual-band option for pilots running a dedicated flight controller — you get full 900MHz/2.4GHz coverage, 12 configurable FBUS ports, and dual XT30 power without the ADV gyro overhead. FPV Builds RC provides U.S.-based product support, receiver-selection assistance, and setup guidance for FrSky products purchased through our store.
Frequently Asked Questions:Which FrSky transmitters are compatible with the TDR12?
The TDR12 works with all FrSky Tandem series transmitters: X18, X18S, X18SE, X18RS, X20, X20S, X20RS, X20 Pro, X20 Pro AW, and X20 R. Any radio running the Tandem (TD) protocol or a TD-capable RF module will bind to this receiver. See our transmitter lineup at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-transmitters
What is the difference between the TDR12 and the TD SR12?
Both are 12-channel Tandem dual-band receivers with triple antennas and FBUS support. The TD SR12 adds a built-in ADV gyro stabilizer (3-axis gyro + accelerometer) for self-leveling flight modes. The TDR12 is the non-stabilized version — ideal for aircraft with a dedicated flight controller or any build where you don't need onboard stabilization.
What is the Tandem dual-band system?
Tandem receivers work on both 900MHz and 2.4GHz simultaneously — both bands run in parallel, not as a failover. 2.4GHz gives you low-latency fast control; 900MHz extends range and cuts through RF interference. You get the best of both on every flight.
Does 900MHz activate automatically, or do I need to set it up?
Your Tandem transmitter activates 900MHz automatically when bound to a TD receiver. The dual-band link negotiates during binding — no extra steps in ETHOS are required. Both frequencies are live from the first bind.
How do I use FBUS for telemetry with the TDR12?
Assign a channel port to FBUS mode in your transmitter's ETHOS receiver settings. Then connect ADV sensors (FAS current sensors, GPS, VARI) or a Neuron ESC to that FBUS port. A single wire carries bidirectional data — sensor readings appear live on your radio display with no extra hub needed.
Does the TDR12 support OTA firmware updates?
Yes. Firmware is updated over-the-air from your Tandem transmitter — no USB cable or PC required.
Does FPV Builds RC offer setup help for the TDR12?
Yes. We're a U.S.-based FrSky dealer happy to help with binding and FBUS wiring. Browse our full FrSky receiver range at https://www.fpvbuildsrc.com/frsky-receivers
